How Our Story Began
Our story started with two people who loved clay enough to build something around it.
Jane was teaching clay pottery classes from her home, and the classes were going well. In fact, they were going so well that she eventually ran out of space. Students kept coming, the work kept growing, and the need for a bigger creative home became obvious.
At the same time, Fran had retired and started a clay supply business. The problem was practical: trucks could not easily reach the location she was using. Clay is heavy, supplies need space, and a pottery business needs a place that can actually support the work.
Then Jane and Fran passed by a building that fit what both of them needed. It had space for teaching, supplies, displays, sales, artists, and community. That building became the home of Manassas Clay.
A Place Built by People Who Truly Love Pottery
We are not just a store with shelves of supplies. We are potters, teachers, makers, collectors, and clay people through and through.
Our team loves pottery because we live it. We make our own work. We fire kilns. We test glazes. We talk through ideas with beginners. We help experienced potters troubleshoot techniques. Jane teaches classes, sells her own work, and continues to share her love of pottery with students and customers. Her energy has helped shape the spirit of Manassas Clay from the beginning.

A Clay Community
30 Years in the Making
In October 2026, we will celebrate our 30th anniversary. That milestone means a lot to us because it represents three decades of makers, students, customers, collectors, and friends.
The clay community comes to us because we are more than a storefront. We are a place to learn, ask, experiment, sell, shop, and connect. We are also a good incubator for talent. People come here to make pottery, sell pottery, learn pottery, and sometimes discover that clay becomes a much bigger part of their life than they expected.
That is one of our favorite things to watch.
